GSM user base in the country stood at 656.86 million in February 2012: COAI

According to data released by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), the GSM user base in the country stood at 656.86 million in February 2012.

As per COAI?s findings, GSM operators added 8.44 million users during the month. Of this, Idea Cellular led the pack, with 2.5 million additions, followed by Uninor, with 2.3 million, taking its total user base to over 41.1 million.

Meanwhile, Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) added more than 232,000 customers in February, taking its total customer base to nearly 15.4 million and Bharti Airtel added more than 1.8 million customers.

Vodafone Essar added more than 838,000 users to take its total customer base to more than 149 million.
