Delhi High Court grants bail to Shahid Usman Balwa in relation to the 2G case

The Delhi High Court has granted bail to Shahid Usman Balwa, promoter, Swan telecom, in relation to the 2G case.

Prior to this, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) informed the court that it would not oppose Balwa?s bail request, keeping in mind the Supreme Court and High Court orders granting bail to other individuals indicted in the case.

U.U. Lalit, special prosecutor informed O.P. Saini, special CBI judge that, ?As an officer of this court, considering the umbrella charges with individual charges framed against the accused, we are not opposing the bail plea at this juncture in view of the Supreme Court and High Court orders.?

He said that the charges framed against Balwa are similar to those against the other individuals indicted in the case and Vinod Goenka, director, Swan Telecom, who have been granted bail by the Supreme Court.
