Joint Parliamentary Committee seeks to extend its term

The Joint Parliamentary Committee examining all policy prescriptions in the Indian telecom sector between 1998 and 2009 plans to write to the Lok Sabha speaker for an extension of its term.

According to P.C. Chacko, chairman of the Committee, the committee is looking to extend its term up to the last date of the budget session next year. The Committee was to complete its scrutiny and submit its report by September 8, 2011.

The Committee will meet next on September 6, 2011.
