Idea Cellular has expanded its 3G services in Kerala. The company has launched its Gold Standard 3G services in Kottayam, following Kochi, Calicut, Trichur, Palghat, Kannur, Malapuram, Alleppey, Pathanamthitta, Kollam, Trivandrum and Nedumangad.

Idea?s 3G services which commenced in Kerala in April 2011, is now available in 12 towns. The services will reach over 1,215 small towns in Kerala by the end of 2011-2012.

The company has added over 0.2 million 3G subscribers across Kerala. Idea?s national 3G footprint is growing at the rate of 10 towns per day and it will cover 750 towns by mid 2011and 4,000 towns by the end of 2011-12. The company has focused on growth from semi-urban areas and will continue to drive its 3G services from these industrial, agricultural and educational regions.

Idea?s 3G services are now available in nine circles, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh (West and East), Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Haryana and Maharashtra & Goa.

Currently, 10 per cent of Idea subscribers in these markets are said to be using 3G enabled handsets.
