
Idea Cellular has reported a slight increase in profits in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2011.
Idea’s profit rose nearly 3 per cent to Rs 2.74 billion in the fourth quarter of financial year 2011, from Rs 2.66 billion in the last quarter of financial year 2010, the company reported to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The operator?s earnings from revenues grew by more than 26 per cent to Rs 42.34 billion from Rs 33.47 billion during the same period.
The company attributes the growth in earnings to rising minutes on its network, a larger number of active subscribers and the positive impact of mobile number portability.
The operator said it carried 362.6 billion minutes on its network during financial year 2010-11.
Idea also added more than 9.6 million active subscribers during the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2011, taking its total user base to 83.3 million.
