Justice S. Muralidhar of the Delhi High Court has rejected Shahid Usman Balwa, managing director of DB Realty and vice chairman of Etisalat DB Telecom’s plea to prepone the hearing of his petition which is fixed for March 7, 2011, according to news reports. In his petition, Balwa claims the Maharashtra government and Intelligence Bureau (IB) found no evidence of his alleged links to Dawood Ibrahim.
Etisalat DB Telecom, earlier known as Swan Telecom, has come under the CBI and ED?s scanners for its role in the 2G spectrum issue. Filing an application, Balwa claimed the Anti-terror Squad of Mumbai police and IB, after a thorough inquiry, have found no documents against him and despite the report, the Centre has failed to file any affidavit so far.
Balwa also said that due to such allegations, certain banks have cancelled the loans sanctioned and credit facilities provided to his company.
