Actor Amitabh Bachchan has threatened to initiate legal action against Bharti Airtel for an alleged brand infringement. The actor in his blog has lashed out on Airtel for offering its consumers a chance to talk to the superstar for a fee, without his consent.

Airtel executives however downplayed the issue and said they had entered into a tie-up with ‘Inside India’, an agency that held the rights for the using Bachchan’s voice on mobile. According to company officials, the operator has been dealing with ‘Inside India’ for a promotional voice-blogging activity with the actor. As an authorised intermediary, ‘Inside India’ was responsible for all the permissions, authority and consent.

In an update on his blog, Bachchan said that a legal notice was being sent to Airtel for misuse of his face and advertising on national television.
