The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is in the process of chalking out new proposals for 2G spectrum pricing and is hopeful of releasing the recommendations by end-October.
In May 2010, TRAI recommended that mobile carriers pay a one-time fee for holding 2G radio spectrum beyond 6.2 MH, based on 3G prices. Thereafter, it said it would submit fresh proposals to the government after a consultation process, and that the process would end by July 15.
