The special audit conducted on Bharti Airtel, in accordance with DoT’s recommendations, has cleared the company of any fraud.

The auditors, however, claim that the telecom operator has failed to add the margin it paid to dealers for selling recharge coupons as part of its revenue, and has therefore not paid licence fee amounting to Rs 980 million on it. Bharti, on the other hand, has clarified that it is not liable to pay this amount as per a TDSAT ruling, which states that the licence fee is payable only on realised revenues.
