China Telecom has formed an industry-wide alliance with over 100 companies to integrate the design, development, production and marketing of mid-range CDMA 2000 handsets. The alliance includes international players such as Nokia, Motorola, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics (LGE), besides Taiwan-based MediaTek, VIA Telecom and Inventec Appliances, and Foxconn International Holdings. China Telecom focuses on the purchase of entry-level CDMA handsets, with Huawei Technologies, ZTE, Samsung and LGE being its major suppliers.
