China Mobile’s Shanghai and Guangzhou subsidiaries are planning to replace 30,000 TD-SCDMA base stations supplied by Datang Telecom Technology with those supplied by ZTE and Huawei. This decision is based on the concerns that the existing equipment is not compatible with the mobile operators’ future upgrades and will be unable to meet the operators’ requirement of supporting the LTE technology.
