BSNL has launched a pilot project to provide 3G mobile services in Pune. The launch will provide 2,000 BSNL post-paid mobile subscribers in Pune with 2 Mbps data connections. For now, the service will be provided free. The public sector company has partnered with mobile solutions vendors ITI and AlcatelLucent to provide these services. Initially, subscribers will only be provided video call facility, with other facilities following over the next six months. The company will finalise charges for the service only after completion of the bidding procedure for spectrum allocation.
