ITI is forging alliances as it seeks to re-establish itself in the country’s telecom manufacturing space. Some of the deals it has signed are with Huawei to manufacture IP TAX equipment at ITI’s Palakkad plant; with US-based Alphion to manufacture gigabitcapable passive optical network equipment in the Rae Bareli factory; with Midas Technologies for broadband equipment; with Digibee for manufacturing GSM handsets; and with China’s Gaoxinqi for manufacturing calling line identification phones. The deals will enable the company to have a wider product portfolio as against the current scenario where it depends on contracts from BSNL and MTNL for its survival.
