
Huawei Technologies has won a $550 million GSM contract to expand the wireless network of Pakistan-based telecom service provider Ufone. Under the agreement, Huawei will provide its EnerG GSM solution to expand Ufone’s network to cover over 1,500 cities, towns, villages and all major highways in the country.
It will also deploy its next-generation GSM dual-density base transceiver stations. In addition, Huawei will provide a mobile softswitch solution based on advanced R4 architecture to satisfy Ufone’s network expansion requirements.
