Pakistan-based Warid Telecom plans to begin operations in Uganda in the fourth quarter of financial year 2007. Targeting to cover 70 per cent of the country in the first phase of implementation, it will cover the remaining in the second phase. The entire operation is estimated to cost over $400 million. Warid Telecom was the fifth company in Uganda to receive a national operator licence early this year.
