
The Tatas are planning to hive off their 5,600-strong telecom tower business into a separate company to enable it to monetise assets worth over Rs 10 billion. Meanwhile, Virgin Mobile plans to enter the Indian telecom market through a tie-up with TTSL. TTSL may grant an exclusive franchisee status to Virgin. Moreover, the company, through its international arm, Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) Global, is also initiating talks to buy out Sri Lankan telecom operator Suntel.
