Nokia has signed a deal with Globe Telecom to provide the Philippines’ carrier with its latest circuit switched core network equipment. Nokia will renew Globe’s core network including an upgrade of the Nokia mobile switching centre. The company has also announced deals worth over $2.5 billion with Chinese customers including digital network equipment for China Mobile (worth $735 million) and mobile phones (worth over $1.9 billion) for the Chinese national mobile phone distributor PTAC. Nokia has also expanded its exclusive framework contract for a WCDMA 3G network with Taiwan Mobile. The new agreement extends the existing agreement to also cover the supply of Nokia’s HSDPA solution and new Flexi WCDMA base stations.
