BSNL may decide to offer competitive rates to MTNL to continue carrying the latter’s NLD traffic for the entire country, excluding Delhi and Mumbai. Consequently, MTNL will be able to reduce its STD tariff. With private operators offering lower rates, MTNL has asked BSNL to offer competitive prices to retain its traffic routes. MTNL has already issued a letter of intent to Reliance Communication for carrying its NLD traffic (other than between Delhi and Mumbai) for calls originating on MTNL’s network and terminating on Reliance’s.
