DoT is likely to reject the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) recommendations on mobile number portability due to various technical and cost issues. Not only will the implementation cost be very high, at over Rs 9.5 billion, but the handsets supporting CDMA and GSM services are also limited.
