The PMRTS subscriber base increased by 0.68 percent during the quarter ended March 2005 to touch 26,330 subscribers. Radio paging fared worse with less than 20,000 users remaining, which is about one-third the number at the end of March 2004. Only 10 paging service providers continue to be operational, with licences for 61 service areas. Similarly, there are just nine operational VSAT service providers. The sector registered a growth of 5.75 per cent during January-March 2005 compared to the 12.24 per cent growth during the quarter ended December 2004. There were 38,330 subscribers at the end of March 2005.
