Aconsortium of NEC and Siemens has won a $57.8 million contract to build optic fibre networks from state-owned telecommunication company PT Telkom to link Java, Sumatra and Kalimantan.
The venture is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year. Other bidders included Alcatel, Fujitsu, Lucent Technologies and Tyco System.
