
Lucent Technologies plans to invest a further $80 million in a 3G mobile telecom R&D centre in Nanjing city in east China. The US company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the local government to increase investment and expand the R&D centre. Lucent will actively cooperate with local telecom runners in 3G network tests. The Nanjing R&D centre, which focuses on CDMA2000 and WCDMA products, was set up in 2003 with an initial investment of $50 million.
