
The Reliance-owned FLAG Telecom has awarded the turnkey conT tract for construction of its proposed FALCON submarine cable system to Alcatel. The contract calls for building, installing and commissioning 10,000 km of submarine cable in the Gulf region with multiple landings throughout West Asia. Terrestrial and submarine equipment will be provided and managed by an integrated network management system which is provided by Alcatel.
The survey work for the entire region has been completed and the majority of the permits to land the cable or cross terrestrial waters have been obtained.
