Pronto Networks, a provider of wireless technologies and carrier-class operations support systems (OSS) for managing large scale Wi-Fi networks, has completed its Wi-Fi deployment at New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) with its cloud managed APs.

The network at NLDS is owned by RailTel. Airlink, in partnership with RaiTel, is managing this network on Pronto technology. The initiative is a part of RailTel’s attempt at building the ‘Railwire’ brand under which it offers retail broadband services at railway station as well as to home users.

NDLS is an extremely complicated environment and makes traditional Wi-Fi setup a challenge. NDLS handles 300 trains across 16 platforms and sees over 500,000 people walk through every day, making it one of the densest public environments in the world. Amid the convolution are also moving trains and other vehicles, so the Wi-Fi rollout required innovative Wi-Fi technology and performance cloud solution tool for complete network management.

After surveying the complex environment, it was determined that an entire new breed of technology is needed to support NDLS. With this is mind, an advanced cloud managed Wi-Fi network was deployed that would ensure high throughput and best in class performance for visitors.

Pronto?s Cloud managed Wi-Fi network provides significant advances over conventional on premise controller networks. With the controller hosted in the cloud, scalability is simple and instantaneously giving the customer piece of mind for their deployment. Pronto Cloud Controller (PCC) allows for all policies to be implemented and managed remotely, making deployment a simple plug and play exercise for engineers in the field.

Nandu Desai, Chief Executive Officer, Pronto Networks, said, ?We are very excited to be working on this innovative project to provide a robust public Wi-Fi network for the railway station in our capital city. By working closely with our partners we plan to provide a spectacular experience for the end customers.?
