China Mobile, the world’s largest wireless operator, clocked in 25.5 per cent profit in January-June 2006 to 30.2 billion yuan from 24 billion yuan during the corresponding period in the previous year. This was due to robust demand from rural areas.
Similarly, its revenue rose to 137 billion yuan from 114.6 billion yuan. It also added a record number of 4.48 million new users in July, bringing its total subscriber base to 278.3 million ?? the world’s largest.
