The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Nokia to pursue collaborative research in 5G and next-generation technologies, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) applications.
According to the press release, experts from Nokia will join VIT’s board of studies, mentoring students and faculty through hands-on learning, prototyping, and student projects. They will actively engage with relevant departments at VIT, aligning with the project and skill requirements of Nokia.
Further, VIT and Nokia will focus on key areas such as 5G, AI-enhanced communication, digital twin, radio-based sensing, connected aerial vehicles, eHealth, cloud technologies, automation, and zero-touch mobile networks.
Additionally, the collaboration will facilitate the exchange of information related to research practices through corporate and academic training based on the expertise of both partners. Nokia will provide hands-on learning opportunities for VIT students and jointly organise short-term continuing education programs.
