Amol Bhendale, Regional Director & National Business Head, Delta Electronics India

As regional director, west (UPS and DC business) and national business head, power quality, MCIS-CIS BU, Delta Electronics India, Amol Bhendale is responsible for achieving annual performance goals and growth, leading the regional sales team and managing the power quality business Pan-India. He is also involved in conducting technical and product training for customers and consultants, planning and executing promotional activities, promoting products, forecasting material needs, managing inventory and leading business partner development.

His role is fulfilling but challenging too. He believes that achieving year-on-year growth in the data centre/information technology and telecom segment without compromising on the bottom line is a major challenge. During a career spanning over 22 years, Bhendale has worked in various organisations. He started his career as a lecturer at S.S.G.M.C.E. and subsequently joined Bangale Associates as a design and project engineer. He later joined Pillai’s Institute of Information Technology as a lecturer. In 2007, he moved to Emerson Network Power as a senior application engineer. In 2009, he joined Delta Energy Systems, India, as an assistant manager, where he conducted technical and product training for customers and consultants. He subsequently served as global technical support for UPS/data centres at Delta Electronics, Taiwan and Australia, later becoming regional sales head and national business development manager-PQC at Delta Electronics India. In terms of sector trends, Bhendale notes that India followed the world in 4G, marched alongside the world in its own unique 5G journey, and is now set to lead the world in 6G. The increasing penetration of 4G and upgradation of 5G; growth in data and messaging services; strengthening of data protection and governance; and increasing focus on climate, sustainability and cybersecurity are among the trends he foresees in the sector. “The opening up of satellite communications and the introduction of the telecommunications Act are expected to attract investment and enhance sectoral appeal,” he adds.

The most memorable assignment in Bhendale’s professional journey in the telecom domain has been a 6×600 kVA UPS project executed for Reliance Jio IDC at Hyderabad. “It was memorable in terms of working with Reliance’s design, project and operations team, from presales to execution.” As a manager, he takes pride in being visionary and affirmative.

Bhendale has a master’s degree in electrical power systems, a BE in electronics and power, and a DEE in electrical engineering. When not working, he enjoys reading, playing badminton and practising yoga. His family comprises his wife and their two sons.
