
According to the data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) by the end of January 2013, the operators had received a total of 84.26 requests from subscribers for porting their numbers to other service providers.
In the month of January, the highest numbers of mobile number portability (MNP) requests were received from the circles of Rajasthan and Gujarat. About 7.96 million and 7.34 million users opted for MNP in Rajasthan and Gujarat, respectively. Further, in MNP Zone-II (southern and eastern region) maximum number of MNP requests have been received from Karnataka (10.20 million) followed by Andhra Pradesh (7.62 million).
