Devusinh Chauhan, Minister of State for Communications, has announced that high-speed 5G services are likely to be rolled out in India within a month. The announcement came at an inaugural event of the International Telecommunication Union’s Regional Standardisation Forum (RSF) for Asia and Oceania region.

According to the minister, the government will also deploy indigenously developed and produced 5G telecom gear. He added that a fully indigenous 5G testbed has been developed to facilitate testing of 5G network elements, and indigenously developed and manufactured 5G stack will get deployed in rolling out 5G network in India by the end of 2022.

Further, the minister informed that a 6G technology innovations group has also been set up, which is working towards the development of an indigenous 6G stack.
