The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) administration has restored 4G high-speed mobile internet services on trial basis in Ganderbal and Udhampur districts, one each in Kashmir and Jammu divisions, with immediate effect.

The order issued will remain valid till September 8, 2020.

The order said that high-speed Internet will be provided to post-paid subscribers while pre-paid customers would be able to enjoy the benefit of the services only after completing the verification process. However, in rest of the districts, the internet speed shall continue to be restricted to 2G.

The resumption of 4G internet services on trial basis came days after the Centre had informed the Supreme Court (SC) that a special committee looking into the matter was considering allowing the facility on a trial basis in two of the 20 districts of the Union Territory (UT).
