Hughes Communications India Private Limited (HCIPL) has been awarded a managed network services contract from a leading oil and gas company. Under the contract, Hughes will deploy the HughesON software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solution at 250 dealer sites across India, using best available broadband at each location, spanning DSL, cable, 4G wireless and satellite connectivity. Across the various access types, the managed SD-WAN deployment will deliver a consistent and secure user experience with built-in security and centralised management and control to enable applications such as customer Wi-Fi, point-of-sale transactions, digital signage and data analytics.

Using edge terminals with zero-touch provisioning along with remote gateways, HCIPL has already connected the customer’s sites in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

In addition to serving retail and petroleum customers across the USA, Europe and Indonesia, HCIPL powers solutions for India’s oil and gas segment at more than 25,000 locations, and recently automated retail networking for leading state-owned oil companies with the Hughes JUPITER satellite broadband system.

Commenting on the new contract, Hughes SVP and enterprise business head, Shivaji Chatterjee, said, “With growing focus on digitilization of the employee and customer experience, oil and gas retailers today require a network that is both secure and reliable. With the HughesON suite of managed services, retailers gain access to the right connection at every location, including redundant paths for reliability, and a monitoring portal for visibility across their deployment. With this latest award, we build on our deep expertise in the oil and gas segment, powering a high-speed managed network for our client to deliver the best user experience for their business.”
