The government has informed the parliament that 2,177 mobile towers have been commissioned covering 3,352 villages as of October 31, 2024.
The Union Cabinet approved a scheme for provisioning of 4G mobile services in 7287 uncovered villages of aspirational districts of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Odisha by installation of 4,779 mobile towers.
The project is aimed to provide mobile coverage in all such villages in phased manner.
