12,500 Tamil Nadu villages to get broadband connectivity in next 18 months

According to the Tamil Nadu government, over 12,500 villages in the state will be connected through broadband internetin the next 18 months as part of the BharatNet project.

In addition, the government has distributed around 5.4 million laptops to state high school students. Further, it plans to empower rural youth to avail employment and growth through the planned broadband optic fibre cable (OFC) connectivity, provided under BharatNet.

BharatNet project will be implemented by state-owned TANFINET.
