
Over 11 million mobile subscribers have availed of the mobile number portability (MNP) facility in the last eight months, with CDMA operators witnessing the maximum users shifting to the GSM platform, say news reports.
The maximum requests have originated from Reliance Communications (RCOM) and Tata Teleservices Limited?s (TTSL) subscribers.
It is believed that more than 0.6 million RCOM CDMA customers and 0.45 million RCOM GSM users have requested to exit from its network.
In TTSL?s case, close to 0.45 million CDMA customers have requested to change the network, while its GSM network gained more than 0.15 million users through mobile number portability (MNP) facility.
Meanwhile, Vodafone has benefited the most the biggest beneficiary of MNP, gaining over 1 million customers.
Close to 0.87 million customers have shifted to Idea Cellular?s network and approximately 0.63 million customers have shifted to Bharti Airtel?s network. Around 73,000 customers have shifted to Aircel?s network.
