Handsets
Lemon Mobiles has launched the iQ 707 dual-SIM (GSM + GSM) handheld. The phone has a 2.2 inch display with a QWERTY keyboard and a trackball for navigation. The handset is equipped with a 3.2 megapixel camera and an inbuilt Opera Mini browser. It offers 20 MB of internal memory, Bluetooth connectivity, PC synchronisation and GPRS. Its other features include access to Nimbuzz instant messenger, FM radio, MP3 player, video recorder, world clock and a phonebook with a storage capacity of 3,000 contacts. It is priced at Rs 4,499.

HTC Corporation's latest offering, the HTC HD mini smartphone, is based on the Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional operating system and has 512 MB ROM, 384 MB RAM and an inbuilt Opera Mobile browser. It is equipped with a 5 megapixel camera and includes features such as Bluetooth connectivity, access to social networking sites, Windows media player and an internal GPS antenna. It is priced at Rs 23,490.

Vodafone Essar has introduced the Vodafone 150 in India. The black-and-white monochrome handset, priced at Rs 809, is targeted at rural customers. Its features include a five-way navigation key, polyphonic ringtones, mini USB connector, two embedded games and a currency converter.

Samsung Electronics has launched the Guru 1175, an entry-level handset with a 65,000colour screen, FM radio, 1 MB memory, mobile tracker facility, Indian calendar and support for nine regional languages. The handset is priced at Rs 1,690.

Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) has introduced the Tata Walky FM cordless phone. Its features include FM radio, an LCD screen, time and temperature display, a 1,500-contact phonebook and 32 polyphonic ringtones. The handset is available for Rs 1,499 and Rs 1,699 for post-paid and prepaid customers respectively.

Fly Mobile has launched the Fly Boom (MC105), a dual-SIM (GSM + GSM) handset priced at Rs 3,649. The device has a universal audio jack, FM radio with schedule recording, five FM alarms, and an audio player displaying the album cover, background and lyrics. The phone is preloaded with a 2 GB memory card and offers Bluetooth connectivity, mobile tracker and call blacklisting facilities, password protection, SMS filter, etc. It is capable of sending a pre-specified SMS as and when a call is rejected. The user can preset an SMS for a particular date, time, mobile number or contact in the phonebook and the message gets sent automatically. Its other features include a 1,000-contact phonebook, GPRS and a VGA camera.

Another offering from the Samsung Electronics stable, the Star Nano 3G has 35 MB of internal memory, which is expandable to up to 16 GB, a 1.3 megapixel camera, a music recognition facility, a built-in FM radio, a video recording facility and a built-in English dictionary. The handset can store up to 2,000 contacts in its phonebook and up to 800 SMSs. The Samsung Star Nano 3G is priced at Rs 7,320.

Services
The Tata Walky FM handset entails two plans: the Come Home to Tata (CHT) Zero Rental Plan and the CHT 99 Plan. Under the zero rental plan, users need not pay a monthly rental for the first year. The CHT 99 plan entails a monthly rental of Rs 99. Local calls within the Tata network are charged at Re 0.30 per minute, while those outside the network are priced at Re 0.40 per minute. STD calls are charged at Re 0.50 per minute.

Vodafone Essar's low-cost handset, Vodafone 150, is bundled with the basic Magic Box offering. For prepaid users, it includes a free prepaid card valid till February 12, 2024; and talktime worth Rs 10. All local and STD calls are priced at Re 0.01 per second for 365 days.

Videocon, in partnership with Atom Technologies, has introduced mobilebased recharge services for direct-to-home customers. The service permits subscribers to recharge their accounts via credit cards from their mobile phones. The recharge can be done by downloading the Atom application.

Vodafone Essar has launched the Vodafone Mobile Connect 499 and Vodafone Mobile Connect 1400 mobile data services plans for prepaid users in Kolkata. The Vodafone Mobile Connect 499 plan is priced at Rs 499 and offers 10 GB of free data usage with a validity of 30 days. The Vodafone Mobile Connect 1400 plan is priced at Rs 1,400 and offers 30 GB of free data transfer with a validity of 90 days. Subscribers are charged at Re 0.05 per 10 kb for extra data usage.

Radio Mirchi has partnered with Bharti Airtel to launch the Mirchi Mobile service. It will enable Airtel customers to access Radio Mirchi's stations in 12 regions.
The service will be hosted on a technology platform that is powered by Spice Digital.

Vodafone Essar has launched an unlimited GPRS-based mobile internet service for prepaid subscribers in Karnataka. The service entails a monthly rental of Rs 95 for up to 2 GB of data transfer. Data downloaded beyond the limit is charged at Re 0.10 per 10 kb. The operator has also introduced a three-day unlimited GPRS pack for Rs 16.

Reliance Communications (RCOM) has launched a music-based value-added service, Mobile Jockey. It is currently available in Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam, and is priced at Rs 6 per minute.

RCOM has also launched the Simply Unlimited CDMA Offer, which includes two calling packs -­ local and national. The local pack offers unlimited local calls for Rs 299 per month and unlimited OnNet calls to any local Reliance phone calls for 30 minutes per day. STD calls are charged at Re 0.50 per minute. The national pack entails a monthly rental of Rs 599 and offers unlimited STD calls within the networkfor 30 minutes per day. After 30 minutes, all calls are charged at Re 0.50 per minute.

Uninor has introduced the Uninor Unlimited Talk Plan in Patna. The plan offers unlimited calls within the network for Rs 38 per month, primarily taRgeting students. Likewise, another plan, entailing a monthly rental of Rs 198 and offering unlimited calls to any network, is targeted at executives.

Bharti Airtel has launched its valueadded service, My Tunes, in Delhi. The service allows users to listen to songs of their choice while waiting for a response to their call. The service is charged at Rs 15 per week or at Re 0.30 per minute.

Uninor has launched a tariff plan offering call rates of Re 0.20 per minute. The company has also introduced a concept of dynamic pricing, under which its subscribers can avail of discounts of 5-60 per cent, depending on the congestion levels at the tower where the call is initiated. In case the load on a tower is low, the user will be eligible for the maximum discount of 60 per cent on the call rate of Re 0.50 per minute. So far, the plan has been launched in the Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu circles.

Idea Cellular has launched Unlimited GPRS Plans in Mumbai. Users can either avail of unlimited GPRS at Rs 98 per month or the GPRS limited plan, which entails a charge of Rs 8 per day with up to 70 MB of data download.

Idea Cellular customers can also avail of two new Idea Minutes Packs. Priced at Rs 295 and Rs 495, these packs offer 1,000 and 2,000 free minutes respectively. Both packs have a validity of 30 days.

TATA DOCOMO has introduced two recharge vouchers for existing and potential prepaid customers. These vouchers offer pay-per-minute and payper-second tariff options with a single recharge. To avail of these tariffs, new subscribers need to recharge with a Rs 24 voucher for a talktime of Rs 10, while the existing subscribers need to recharge with a Rs 21 voucher for a talktime of Rs 10. These recharge coupons peg local and STD calls to any network at Re 0.45 for 60 seconds, wherein the first 45 seconds are charged at Re 0.01 per second and the next 15 seconds are free for every minute. Messaging charges for new customers using the Rs 24 voucher is Re 0.60 for the first local SMS and Rs 1.20 for the first national SMS. The next 200 messages, both local and national, will be free for 90 days from the recharge date. Existing customers recharging with the Rs 21 voucher can avail of the same calling benefits. The offer is valid for a year from the date of recharge.

Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) has introduced the Unlimited Offer, which entails unlimited STD calls within the network. The offer can be availed of through two packs -­ the Unlimited Local Pack 299 and the Unlimited National Pack 599, both valid for 30 days. The Unlimited Local Pack 299 is priced at Rs 299 and offers unlimited calls to any local TTSL number. Customers can also avail of 30 minutes of free talktime daily and 60 minutes on Sundays. For additional usage, subscribers will be charged Re 0.50 per minute for all calls and messages. The Unlimited National Pack 599 is priced at Rs 599 and offers unlimited free calls within the TTSL network. Users will also be offered 30 minutes of free talktime daily and 60 minutes on Sundays to any number.

Idea Cellular's "Maha Recharge" offer gives customers full talktime on every top-up in Maharashtra and Goa. Users can avail of this offer by recharging with a Rs 34 voucher. All subsequent recharges of Rs 30, Rs 50, Rs 75, Rs 100, Rs 125, Rs 150, Rs 200 and Rs 250 will offer full talktime.

Vodafone Essar has launched two new ISD bonus cards for prepaid customers in Kolkata. These cards offer reduced taRiff options for outgoing calls to Bangladesh. Priced at Rs 36, Bonus Card 36 pegs calls at Rs 2.99 per minute. Likewise, Bonus Card 42, priced at Rs 42, charges ISD calls to Bangladesh at Re 0.06 per second. Both these cards have a validity of 30 days.

Loop Mobile has introduced the "Dus Ka Gang NXT GEN" plan, whereby a group of up to 10 prepaid subscribers can avail of discounted calling and SMS rates.
Under this plan, calls and SMSs within the group are priced at Re 0.10 per minute. The members of the group can download 2 GB of free data during the night hours. This plan is available for Rs 52 and is valid for five years. Local calls to other networks are charged at Re 0.50 per minute, while such calls within the network are charged at Re 0.30 per minute. STD calls are priced at Re 1 per minute, and national and local SMSs are charged Re 0.50 and Re 0.10 per SMS respectively.

TTSL has introduced the 199 Happy Sunday voucher for Tata Walky customers in Kolkata. The voucher is priced at Rs 199 and is valid for 30 days. Under this plan, customers can make local calls within the network at Re 0.25 per minute, while local calls to other networks are charged at Re 0.35 per minute. All STD calls are priced at Re 0.45 per minute. Users can also avail of 120 minutes of free talktime every Sunday -­ 60 minutes of talktime for calls within the network and 60 minutes for other networks.

Bharti Airtel's "Live Arti" service offers daily live prayers from popular places of worship on to mobile phones.
Subscribers can avail of this service by calling 55222. This entails a one-time membership fee of Rs 5 for the service, after which a daily subscription fee of Rs 2 per shrine is applicable.
