Opensignal has released its latest report on the Mobile Experience Network in India. In this report the company has introduced a new metric, voice app experience, assessing the real-world quality perceived by users of voice communication mobile apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Skype.

Some highlights from the report, which performed an analysis of the real subscriber experience on the five main operator networks: Airtel, Jio, BSNL, Vodafone and Idea at a national level:

In the past months, Airtel has been refarming its 2G and 3G networks to strengthen its 4G, and the effects of this are already visible as the operator has substantially improved its 4G availability and remains undisputed winner in our video experience and latency experience awards.

Jio’s 4G availability continues to grow, as its scores grew-up to 97.8 per cent in the last six months. However, Airtel showed the highest improvement in this category as its scores soared by more than three percentage points to close in the 90 per cent mark.

Vodafone became the first operator in India to win Opensignal’s new Voice App Experience award. It was a close race between the four major operators as all of them earned a 66-74 rating.

The report also includes a deep analysis of 4G availability, download and upload speed, latency, video and voice experience in 42 cities.
