50 per cent licensed tower congestion may be reduced by E&V spectrum

September 11, 2019
E-mail Print PDF

As per industry sources, if the E&V spectrum allocation recommended by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in 2014 is finalised by the centre, it may reduce upto 50 per cent of the congestion on licensed towers.

However, the Department of telecommunications (DoT) is divided on the allocation of these two spectrum bands.

In 2014, TRAI had recommended, the usage of high-capacity backhaul E-band (71-76 / 81-86 GHz) and V-band (57-64MHz) may be explored to increase the broadband penetration in the nation.
