Government creates a new post of Deputy CAG to oversee communications audits

The government has given its approval to the creation of an additional post of Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). The Deputy CAG will be responsible for the coordination among state audits, audit of telecommunications and will coordinate the various information systems initiatives within the Indian Audit & Accounts Department (IA&AD).

As per industry sources, the government would incur an expenditure of around Rs 2.1 million on account of creation of this post.The government has also cleared a spending of over Rs 27 billion for the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) programme consisting of five GSLV flights during the period 2021-2024. The fourth phase of the programme will enable launch of two-tonne class of satellites for geo-imaging, navigation, data relay communication and space sciences.
