Singtel, Airtel and Warburg considering acquiring stake in Dish TV

A consortium consisting of Singapore Telecommunications, Bharti Airtel and Warburg Pincus is reportedly planning to buy around 61 per cent stake in Dish TV. This stake belongs to ZEE founder Subhash Chandra’s family.

As per industry sources, this buy out will be followed by an open offer for another 26 per cent. Post this, Bharti Telemedia, Bharti Airtel’s digital TV business, will be hived off and combined with the listed Dish TV through a reverse merger.

This deal is expected to cost the consortium around $1.15 billion for the total 87 per cent stake, with each share being valued at Rs 50.
