Bharti Airtel’s subsidiary Airtel Networks Kenya Limited has signed an agreement with Telkom Kenya Limited to merge their mobile, enterprise and carrier services businesses in Kenya and establish an entity ‘Airtel-Telkom’ with enhanced scale, operational efficiency and strategic brand presence. In addition, the two operators would also invest in networks in order to accelerate the roll out of future technologies.

According to a statement by Airtel, the enterprise and carrier services businesses would benefit from a larger fibre footprint and an increased number of enterprise customers (both large corporations and small and medium enterprises), who would have access to a diverse portfolio of world-class solutions.

However, the finalisation and closure of the deal is subject to approvals by the relevant authorities.
