The Supreme Court has rejected the Competition Commission of India's (CCI’s) plea to probe charges of cartelisation against Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular.

Earlier in January 2018, the CCI had moved the Supreme Court against the Bombay High Court’s decision to set aside a probe ordered by the CCI on charges of cartelisation against the above mentioned operators.

In 2016, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) had levelled charges of cartelisation against the top three operators on denial of interconnection points. According to RJIL, its customers could not connect to the customers of the other three telcos because of absence of interconnection points.

Addressing RJIL’s complaint, The CCI had ordered a probe in May 2017 based on prima facie evidence against the accused operators on charges of cartelisation.
