Google has introduced the eSIM wireless service on its Pixel 3 smartphone with Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) and Airtel as its telecommunication carriers in India.

eSIM is an embedded SIM that lets users instantly connect to a carrier network with the tap of a button.

In 2017, Google had launched its Project Fi (now called Google Fi) to support built-in eSIMs in its smartphones. With this Google became the first smartphone vendor to support built-in eSIMs. Pixel 2 was the first major smartphone with eSIM.

With eSIM, users can connect across devices in the Google ecosystem, from Android smartphones to Chromebooks to Wear OS smartwatches.
