Oppo Mobiles' India managing director, Yi Wang, has stepped down from his position in the face of widening losses incurred by the company and growing competition in the local market. The decision was mutually reached upon post a meeting between the boards of directors.

Oppo’s net loss increased from Rs 420 million in 2016-17 to Rs 3.58 billion in 2017-18. The company reported a net loss of Rs 7.78 billion for the half year ended September 30, 2018.

As per industry sources, there had been significant pressure from the Oppo management on the India team as it was not able to get desired results at a time when Xiaomi captured the leader position for almost a year in the country.
