ITI Limited bags Wi-Fi contract worth Rs 3.34 billion for RajNet project

State-run telecom gear manufacturer, Indian Telephone Industries (ITI) Limited has bagged a contract worth Rs 3.34 billion from RajCOMP Info services, an undertaking of the Rajasthan government, to execute the RajNet project.


Under the contract, ITI will establish 40,000 outdoor Wi-Fi access points in Rajasthan. Additionally, ITI will also supply, install and provide maintenance of outdoor Wi-Fi access points along with associated radio frequency (RF) radio equipment within a period of six months followed by operation and maintenance of the network for five years.

The RajNet project would ensure connectivity till the gram panchayat level through multiple mechanisms like, broadband, SATCOM, OTA, LAN and SWAN among others. As per ITI officials, RajNet would also complement the efforts of BharatNet phase I and II to provide last-mile connectivity in far-flung areas of the country.
