ITU-APT Foundation re-elects Mr. Tilak Raj Dua as its Chairman

ITU-APT (International Telecommunication Union- Asia Pacific Telecommunity) has unanimously re-elected Mr. Tilak Raj Dua, Director General, Tower and Infrastructure Providers Association (TAIPA) as its chairman for the second term with immediate effect.

On the occasion, Mr. Bharat Bhatia, President, ITU-APT Foundation of India said, “the 14th AGM has re-elected Mr. Tilak Raj Dua as the chairman of ITU-APT Foundation noting Mr. Dua’s exceptional understanding of the Indian Telecommunication sector and his contribution in policy making and regulatory has resulted in creating a healthy competitive environment in the industry. We wish him best of luck and extend supporting hand for his journey in the position.”

On his re-election, Mr. Tilak Raj Dua, Director General, TAIPA and Chairman ITU-APT Foundation of India said, “It has always been a pleasure for me to be associated with the foundation for the second term of two years. The role of foundation has been significant in promoting the expansion of telecommunication services, developing regional cooperation in areas of common interest, remarkable studies related to developments in telecommunication, technology transfer, human resource development and the exchange of information for the balanced development of telecommunication services. I am excited to contribute with full of my capacities to make Digital India a reality by helping create a robust telecommunication in India.”

Mr. Tilak Raj Dua has total experience of more than 35 years in the telecommunication sector. His experience includes all facets of telecom such as- product development; business development; telecom licensing; spectrum management; spectrum related issues like spectrum pricing; efficient utilisation and spectrum reframing; finalisation of joint ventures; technical collaboration; introduction of new product; launch of cellular services in India; regulatory issues with respect to interconnection, roaming, unified licensing and infrastructure sharing, mobile number portability; and finalisation of licence agreements, interconnect agreements etc.

Over the years, Mr. Dua has held prestigious positions in the industry such as Director in leading telecom companies like Bharti Airtel, Shyam Telecom, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), Vice Chairman and Global ICT Standardisation Forum for India.
