BSNL joins hands with Softbank and NTT to roll out 5G and IoT services in India
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has joined hands with Softbank and NTT Communications to roll out 5G and internet of things (IoT) services in India. As per the partnership, the three entities will be focusing on solutions for smart cities.
Further, BSNL has partnered with Softbank for its satellite constellation which would have around 900 satellites providing high speed internet services globally.
Currently, BSNL is in the advance stages of starting 5G test trials. In this regard, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had recommended the auction of about 8,644 MHz of spectrum at an estimated base price of Rs 4.9 trillion. The government has to finalise details of allocation of this spectrum.
