According to a statement by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) the Aadhaar data of a resident cannot be updated by a third party without the biometric details of the individual.

Earlier, some claims had been raised by the people that the Aadhaar enrolment software could be hacked. In this regard, the UIDAI stated that the resident’s data is matched with his biometric (10 fingerprints and both iris) before issuing an Aadhaar, thereby eliminating the chances of hacking by third parties. Further, the UIDAI also stated that it had taken all safeguards to ensure complete security of all resident’s data.

Moreover, any operator found indulging into any fraudulent activity with the Aadhaar data of the residents would be blacklisted by UIDAI along with a penalty amounting to Rs 100,000.
