DoT rejects RCOM’s complaint on unfair treatment regarding one time spectrum charges

Friday, 13 July 2018

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has rejected a complaint by RCOM where latter has stated unfair treatment by the department in comparison to Vodafone India in the case of one time spectrum charges. The DoT stated that the two cases were different.

The DoT had asked RCOM to provide bank guarantees towards the market value of its allotted spectrum before sharing the airwaves with Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL), as per the spectrum-sharing rules.

Further, the DoT mentioned the fact that this case could not be compared to the demand of Vodafone India as it is undergoing a merger wherein the rules of Mergers and Acquisitions apply.
