Samsung sets up new manufacturing facility in Noida; aims to double output by 2020

July 10, 2018

Samsung India has inaugurated its new mobile phone manufacturing facility in Noida, which is also the largest mobile factory in the world. With this, the company has launched a phase-wise expansion that will be completed by 2020. As part of this plan, Samsung aims to double its current capacity for mobile phones in Noida from 68 million units per year to 120 million units per year.

The company has taken the ‘Make in India’ initiative to another level by launching ‘Make for the World’ initiative as part of which it aims to export mobile handsets produced in India, to overseas markets.

Samsung had announced its expansion plan in June 2017, where it unveiled that it will make an investment of Rs 49.15 billion to add new capacity to its existing Noida plant.

The Noida factory was set up in 1996 and is one of the first global electronics manufacturing facilities set up in India. Expansion of the existing facility will help Samsung meet the growing demand of mobile phones globally as well as within India.
