BSNL to launch prepaid landline and VoIP services across its circles

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced that it will be launching its prepaid landline service in all the circles across India from July 20, 2018. Under this service, the state run telco would offer landline connections on ‘pay as per-use’ basis without installation, registration or rental charges.

To get a connection, the customer would be required to either purchase own instrument or use BSNL’s instrument at a one-time cost of Rs 625.

The tariffs for the service range between Rs 11 and Rs 99 with varied validity period and offers unlimited calls to any network and anywhere in India. However, the customers would be initially required to purchase a voucher of Rs 200 with unlimited calls to any network and anywhere in India with a validity of 30 days.

Further to this, BSNL has also launched its Internet Telephony (VoIP) service with brand name “Wings” in India. The connections will be made available from August 1, 2018 on the first-come-first-serve basis. The service uses Mobile Numbering scheme and is being provided using IP based access network of IMS NGN Core switches.

The service can be used by installing a SIP client or a soft application on a smartphone or tablet. The app will allow users to make and receive calls from anywhere in India and abroad with any landline or mobile. The customers can enjoy unlimited audio or video calls for a year by paying a one-time activation fee of Rs 1,099.

While, the app will allow video calling facility only between two Wings subscribers, the user will be free to use the internet connection of any provider.
